Being important to John Connor was a terrible thing. Being important to John Connor got you killed. Got you captured for interrogation and experiments.

The people of this new future may not know who John Connor is, but Skynet still does. Skynet knows everything, remembers everything. Every future, every possibility, every probability. Skynet knows, Skynet remembers.

John Connor may not be the leader of the human resistance, but that doesn't make him any less dangerous. It may make him more dangerous. Less people following him, less people doing what he says. He can go anywhere, do anything, be anyone that he wants to be.

He's harder to track in this future. Harder, but not impossible.

When people become important to him, Skynet notices. When he finds his father, his uncle, his family, Skynet notices.

When he falls in love, Skynet notices.

They send a machine after the girl. Another machine, they'd already tried to capture her once to infiltrate a camp and kill the Reese Brothers. It was easy enough to send another machine after her for this.

Easier still to capture her this time. A machine disguised as a resistance soldier. Taking her to one of their experiment bunkers. They kept her for months. Testing her. Examining her.

Trying to see what made her important. Trying to see how they could use that. Fix that. Change that.

Improving her, eventually. Metal in the brain. Wires in her blood. Uplinks and downlinks, muscle repair and bone replacement. It was slow. It was painful. She screamed a lot. She cursed, she bled and eventually she raged.

Neccesary, if they were going to send her back. Of course they would send her back.

Allison Young was important to John Connor.
