lj closet day
Feb. 6th, 2004 01:43 amAll day I will be posting things forComing Out of the WIP Closet Day.
This damn thing has been giving me guff since I started it TWO YEARS AGO. I've finally gotten quite a chunk of it done, but I'm thinking of starting it completely over. I dunno. We'll see.

Feb. 6th, 2004 01:52 amI started this last year when Nero Wolfe was still on A&E. Someone dared me to write a Nero Wolfe is a Werewolf fic. I didn't get very far.
No cut because it ain't that long.
Title: "Lamia"
Author: EA Karras
Notes: I've never written Nero Wolfe. Be kind.
---
Dead people give me a pain, undead ones doubly so. Anybody who doesn't have the good sense to stay in their graves deserves everything they get. That said, I have to admit that there's something about a sharp fanged gal that sets the blood boiling.
She was a looker, and an old one judging by the way she moved. The woman had a way of acting like she owned the place, but knowing how long vamps can live maybe she had.
She gave her name as Mary Bones, but anyone who had been around Wolfe as long as I had could tell that was flummery. I wasn't about to let her up to see the genius until I got a clear mark on her. Vampire or no vampire.

Feb. 6th, 2004 02:02 amMy first Stargate fic.
EDIT: Oh, right. And it's an Andromeda crossover too.
( Trouble In Blue )

Notes:
I suppose a question might be how the hell an archaelogist became the avatar for a warship.
The Stargate.
The Stargate made him a warship?
The Stargate took him to the Vedrans who experimented on him. One would think that at one point they might've experimented with using a human as the something or another of a ship. Creating avatars from people, instead of just plain data.
Flesh/tech interfaces aren't rare.
The Balance could have his cryogenically frozen Daniel Jackson. Hooked into the computer core, like a...living battery.
Daniel-as-Balance created Gabriel as something to download himself into and it sort of...backfired?
Likely.
Gabriel considered himself a scholar.
A being of peace. Schyeah right, but he did.
He just didn't have the...emotive power behind that. Almost like he got what he wanted to be, but not the drive to do it.
He might be at the point where if someone were to actually call him Daniel, he's go "Who?"
After enough time? Yeah.
look at his idea of ecological preservation.
Blowing up civilisation to preserve ecology. Quite a different approach than that whole 'save the world' thing.
People as a disease.
How did he get to that point?
Maybe a reaction to having been human/moloch once?
Twisted up and insane.
It's not like after the fall, he can download himself back into his body.
that kind of brainpower in a human body would make it go all ew.
Hundreds of years ago. The Long Night. Classified. The Vedrans.
He might not remember how it happened.
Being violently shoved into a computer matrix would be traumatizing I would think.
He may have only vague recollections of events from before he was the Balance.
I would think if confronted with something from his Daniel Jackson past there would be badness.
not to mention what might happen if he were confronted with /someone/.
He's gone from be archaelogy guy, preserver of past civilisations to Ship who destroys people to preserve ecosystems. He is in no shape or form /ever/ going to be Daniel Jackson again.
He'll never be the same. It's not possible.
Is it?
Too much trauma, too much information, too much time.
Or is it?
I'm sure meeting Rommie didn't help him any.
Probably not. Or his android kind of sort of falling in love with her.
she's what he's /supposed/ to be like. I'm sure he hates her.
Because he's beyond that!
Exactly. He's a /ship/. He doesn't /need/ to love or be loved. In his mind, anyway.
: He had human contact at one point. He had Jack. and he lost Jack, because of this. And to have any part of him want to be happy with human contact would be something he would NOT want. because part of him might see it having led to this.
A throwback. Mist be eradicated.
Could Jack fix Daniel? Can Daniel be fixed? Happy ending? Unlikely...ins't it?
